I also tried pinging google in CMD and got:

What the heck is going on in SoCal - Part 3

Despite some speed increases for selected SoCal areas, overall reliability and consistency seems to be worse. A number of areas still experience significant evening slow-downs.

It is totally unclear what Standard and Turbo are supposed to be for many/most areas. Is there one document online at TWC that shows the real provisioned speed for any area, not some outdated information? Accurate documentation is basically non-existant. Is this on purpose or just ineptitude?

TWC posted 2nd quarter revenues of $4.5 BILLION. Their Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer, Glenn Britt, made $14,673,523.00 in compensation for 2008.

It is now over 2 years since TWC took over most of SoCal.

Do not people think maybe it is time that TWC put some of this money into fixing these problems in SoCal?

How Much Do You Guys Upload Daily?

I was wondering how much you guys with RR Standard,Turbo,Extreme,Wideband upload.

Since I got wideband I upload like minimum 5 gb a day less then 5 gb if I don't use internet much that day.

Also I use now Windows 7 Ultimate Remote Desktop function it's really nice with 5 mbps upload rather then 768 kbps with turbo

Got Wideband? Check your bill!

I don't know if this belongs in this forum, but it does concern the addition of Wideband service.

I ordered Wideband and had it installed 2 days later - Brooklyn, NY. It works great, and does not suffer the night time slowdowns that I was used to. I'm very happy with it, if for only THAT reason.

Anyway, I got my bill today and it was almost 140.00 more than what I was paying. Now I had the everything package - all premiums, 2 TVs 1 HD DVR, etc. Also had RR and Turbo. So I know the wideband service is 99.00 a month, so I figure add the 99.00, subtract approx 50.00 for removing RR and Turbo, so I thought my bill would be an additional 50.00 a month, more or less.

Deducting the install fee and partial month charges, my bill jumped from 198.00 to 275.00 a month - that's an additional $75.00 a month - it just didn't add up.

Upon examining the bill, I see that they UN-BUNDLED all of my TV service and were billing me separately - I am being billed for Basic Service, plus standard service, plus D-Ultimate package, (including all premiums). This is where I see the hefty increase in the price.

I called TWC to see what's going on and the woman I spoke with explained that they unbundled my TV service - she bundled it back, but could not bundle in the wideband service - they don't have any bundles with that yet, she explained. Anyway, she adjusted my bill, which will now be 242.00 a month, down from 275.00.

The moral: If you ordered Wideband - CHECK YOUR BILL!

WHy signal gets bad at night

Does anyone have an idea why from about 6pm to 11pm each night my TV analog channels 2-6 get real snowy and my internet downloads slow. I noticed my modem download signal strength also drops about 4db when this happens. Upload signal stays the same. I do not lose sync. Magically after 11pm or so it goes back to normal. I know it is not my house wiring as it was checked. It is not the weather or rain or snow or ice. Wiring is underground on my street. No apartments near to me. CAble person has been out and of course it does not happen during the day. This is a mystery. Hope someone can offer help.

[TWC] South Gate/Los Angeles....poor speeds...tech support no he

Where to start. Major lag and suckiness on Modern Warfare 2 tonight. Run some speed tests, and I'm seeing stuff less than 1 megabit. And I'm seeing ping info like this:

http://www.pingtest.net/result/4240588.png

Get on the phone with lvl 3 tech support or whoever, and the only problem he see's is the power levels on my router. I arrange to go pick up a new one tomorrow.

Then I start talking to a friend of mine who is much smarter than me. We start looking at trace routes. Here's mine to speakeasy.net (their favorite speedtest site!):

So I called back to talk to another tech, and the fool blew me off completely. He said my modem was fine, and there was nothing wrong. He even said I didn't have any power level problems, and the other guy was wrong. Nevermind my crappy speeds or terrible ping. Everything is wonderful!

Any ideas? I'm not a networking expert...just looking to get this fixed.
