Are GPS's better today?

I have a Garmin nuvi 350 that I bought maybe 3 years ago. Has the technology improved today that would warrant me buying a new one? I see I can ebay the thing for around $70, maybe more, to put towards a new GPS.

Google Maps is waaaayy better than my GPS. Only problem is I don't have a computer in my car. Are there any GPS units that give good directions like Google Maps does? This Garmin seems to want to take me way out of the way a lot of the times.

Big Bank Alternative to Bank of America?

I've been with BoA for years, mainly for their impressive billpay service. I'm closing all my BoA accounts and I'd like to open an account with another big bank who would has a really nice billpay service also. I've ruled out Suntrust, but I'm not familiar with any of the other large banks.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

what do exterminators use to kill roaches

Our apartment get sprayed every month for those fun lil bugs called roaches. We (well, she ;) ) have a cat and bird here. The bird is 2-5 feet off of the floor and the cat sleeps on the bed more than I do. She was worried about what effect the roach spray would have on the pets. The guy who came and did the spraying of the apartment said that there was nothing to worry about.

What do commercial exterminators use to kill off roaches?

Extra charge to use Master Card instead of Visa?

Is it legal for a company to charge $40 extra to use Master Card? They do not charge anything extra to use Visa, and do not take Amex or Discover at all. This is the policy of an apartment complex.

DSL speed and phone lines.

I have had DSL with the same company for years now. I am very happy with their service. I have a home run line from the NID to the modem, and two other home run lines from the NID to both ends of the house. I AM NOT using a splitter at this point in time.

I am wanting to upgrade from their one meg download package to their six meg package. The guy went ahead and bumped me up to the six meg speed, but all I got was just over 4 meg when I ran speed tests. If I go out to the NID and unplug the two home run lines to each end of the house, I get 5800 down (close enough to my 6 meg).

So, the guy at the phone company wants to install a NID splitter to get me my 6 meg with the house phones connected. He said I can then take the filters off the phones inside the house.

My questions are, how exactly will the splitter bump me up from 4 megs to 6? Also, why does adding the two phone lines decrease my speed from 5800 to 4000? There are filters on the two phones, but even if I unplug the filter and phone from the jack, it changes nothing. Unless I actually go out to the NID and disconnect the actual lines, I don't get my 5800 speed.

Is it normal for speeds to slow some by just adding phone lines? I am at the distance limit for getting the 6 meg package, and the phone tech said that even small things can affect the speed. That's why they want to install the splitter. Will the splitter simulate not having the phone lines connected?

Thanks!!

Skype and Roku Video Quality

I use Skype and also have a Roku video player. At times the video quality on both is crystal clear and at times they both have the same highly pixelated look. I have 3meg DSL with AT&T/BellSouth. Are these things related, and where do I look to figure out what the problem is?

Skype does have a diagnostic tool and one thing it tells me is that BW=critical which I think means that bandwith is limiting. However, whenever I test my internet connection speed I always get the same 3meg download rate. Any ideas would be appreciated.
