[Modem] 2 2wire modems die days apart

Last week my dad's 2wire router stopped working (I only found this out today).
Few days ago my girlfriend's router stopped working as well.
No matter how many times I tried to reboot it it did not work.

The power light stays solid RED as soon as you plug the power in.
At one point I got the power light to blink red and come green for a split second, then red again.

Did ATT push a bad firmware to brick them?
Seems odd to me.

This is in Chicago.

Past week connection and phone line intermittently go out

for usually around 2-5 minutes. This happens a lot. Going to suggest housemate calls AT&T but perhaps there's something I overlooked? Probably not, but it's worth a shot. This is bad and I want it to end. Any and all input sans trolling is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

2wire 2701 modem/router

I am setting up a small GATEWAY tower with a GIGABYTE brand wireless card to connect to a 2wire brand 2701 HGB. From past experiences I know that I NEED to DISABLE the security in the router. I am using a DLINK brand router with security disabled with a NETGEAR card. It will NOT work with security ENABLED. Does anyone have the steps I need in simple language that will allow me to DISABLE the security in the 2701? I do have a 27 but I no longer use ATT, I now use a cable modem. I therefore cannot connect the router and access it. This tower is for a friend who has no tech ability. I have some. Please resond to reeltoreelguy@gmail.com ASAP. Thank you.

[Speed Problem] Poor performance browsing Internet - AT&T Networ

Hi All -

Today we are experiencing very poor performance when browsing the Internet. Have been intermittently unable to connect to gmail, or receive partial downloads of pages. Have been unable to load Broadband Reports Flash speed test, images are very slow to download.

Have a 2Wire Router/modem. Statistics show no errors in any metrics, relatively small number of DSL corrected blocks. Line test showed 68 ms latency which is consistent with earlier line tests.

Earlier this week discovered had a bad filter on the line which prevented us from getting the full 3 Mb/sec bandwidth under our HSI Pro package. Checked the Keynote AT&T status page, looked like there were lots of issues in the Maxi-POP to Mini-POP measurement.

Traceroutes seem to show dropped connections in handoff to other ISPs.

Any info anyone can share would be great.

AT&T YAhoo Email Customers - servers are down..

This is an FYI - the email servers are down at the moment.

No ETR but it is currently being worked on. This is affecting users that check email via an email client like Outlook, Thunderbird, Eudora and the list goes on.

At this moment webmail is currently working.

Please be patient - it is being worked on.

It may not affect all our customers either.

Thanks...

dsl going "red" or getting low download speeds

I'm having problems with my internet. My modem keeps going "red" blinking on the "dsl" indicator. I had at&t tech support do phone troubleshoot and they though it was the line. The guy came out and even came inside to troubleshoot. He said that he sees no problem and though the connection was a router issue (not...i've tried direct as well.). I'm using an ethernet cable to connect to my netgear basic router. I've tried wireless as well and speed did not change. here are my test results

2-Line Demarc Bolts

My sister used to have the same setup at their house. The only thing is that a technician a while back took out two of the four hex-bolts that make up the second line for the house. Where can she get these to put back in, she needs a second line again and does not want to be charged for parts she already had before the tech took them out? Maybe someone can refer me to a website or supply house. Thanks.
