Explorer 4250HD HDMI Connection

Hi all,

My family got a new HD TV yesterday, as well as an HDMI-ready receiver and a Blu-Ray Player. So far I've gotten the Blu-Ray player to work with an HDMI cable to the receiver. However, I haven't been able to get the 4250HD box to work with the HDMI connection. I just was able to get the box working with the component cables, but obviously HDMI would be much better.

Maybe there's something that I have to do to "activate" the HDMI connection?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Installation Fee when do you pay?

Do you pay the person that installs it or do they bill it to your bill?

Reason I ask is because I remember getting billed the 35 dollars on my bill.

However my neighbor just asked me saying that she has an apointment today and the installer said to have the 144 for the installation in cash.

Cable card question

I have a number of older TV sets located in rooms that do not require the expense of a full time converter box and remote.

I would like to know if there are boxes I could buy that except a cable card?

I know that there are some limitations to these boxes but CV has constantly moved many channels to digital, leaving only the basics and of course the shopping channels behind. They have moved channels we watch and I assume will move others to increase profits.

I would spend the monthly cost of the cards plus the ONE time cost of a converter box but not the on going monthly cost of a full time box.

I could get a TIVO box but its expense and initial cost do not warrant its use.

Since I would be paying CV for the card its use should be legal.

Is this item manufactured and if so any links to it would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Stu

Missing channels in guide

Is anyone else missing channels on the iO TV Guide? We are missing at BravoHD, Syfy HD and several others (the channels are still listed, but the lines are blank). Besides being a pain when surfing the guide I'm worried that shows I've scheduled to record won't.

[OOL] OOL throttling streaming videos?

For about a week now i noticed that youtube and vimeo videos, especially HQ ones are loading very slow.
Looking at the bandwidth used i see that videos are coming in at ~100kilobytes/sec.
It doesn't look like local network capacity since:

Speed Test #82153033 by dslreports.com
Run: 2009-11-19 20:59:11 EST
Download: 11286 (Kbps)
Upload: 1868 (Kbps)
Regular webpages, downloads and even Apple and Yahoo's quicktime HD trailers are downloading perfectly fast, but flash streaming videos are PITA to watch with constant buffering.

Could OOL be throttling youtube, vimeo and other video sites?
If so, this is the most blatant Network Neutrality violation.

[OOL] Cable box for EVERY TV?

Hi,

I had a visit from a UVerse guy today. They're finally coming to my neighborhood.

One thing the UVerse guy said was that OOL would soon be requiring a cable box on every TV.

Since I have quite a few TV's in the house this could be quite costly.

Is this true?

Thanks,

FF

[OOL] 07726 slow BOOST downstream

I have had a trouble ticket and the guy came out and found nothing wrong but changed out the splitters anyway. The plant folks did something and things got great for about 2 weeks and now downstream is worst then ever. It's not a local problem and my upstream is great (almost 5 all the time). Something is wrong either in my neighborhood, Freehold or somewhere with downstream.

I checked my neighbors and the standard downstream seems to be OK, looks like it's a BOOST downstream problem.

Cablevision wires MacArthur Airport for Internet access

November 24, 2009 By CARL MACGOWAN

As Thanksgiving travelers began their holiday sojourns, Long Island MacArthur Airport in Ronkonkoma was trying to help fliers Tuesday by going wireless.

Customers at the airport are now able to check e-mail and access the Internet while waiting for flights thanks to an Optimum Online Wi-Fi system Cablevision installed throughout the airport. Cablevision owns Newsday.

The system is available to Optimum Online customers, and non-customers can also access it with some restrictions, town officials said.

Users will be prompted by their wireless devices to log in to a MacArthur Airport Web page, Cablevision officials said at a news conference at the airport, which is owned by the Town of Islip.

Cablevision installed the system at no cost to taxpayers, Supervisor Phil Nolan said. MacArthur is the first metropolitan-area airport to go completely wireless.
