Windows 7 - Dell ALPS Touchpad driver

I was having some trouble with inadvertent touches to the touchpad during typing on my Clean install of W7.

So I went to Dell to get the Touchpad app for this comptuer.

Upon installing it, it gave me a BSOD "Memory Management"

It may have attmepted to install this to C:\ even though I'm running this W7 clean install off of W:\.

Dell ALPS Touchpad driver

(Despite the W7 running on Drive W:\, it did unzip on C:\. )

It's Dell Driver package R165804.

I re-downloaded it and unzipped and ran it on W:\ and it gave me an error only saying Alps Touchpad: "Install Failed."

On my other (upgrade) install of W7, (same computer) the touchpad software does work. (And I didn't do anything ...it was just there after the upgrade to W7)

In Device Manager it shows up as "Dell Touchpad" under Mice and other pointing devices. The driver is for an Alps Touchpad, which is the same as I was downloading in the Clean W7 ...but which would not install. (That could be one mark in favor of the Upgrade install).

Windows 7 Dell ALPS Touchpad driver

Has anyone added the software for a Dell ALPS Touchpad to a Clean install of Windows 7?

Yeah, i removed Dell's drivers for the Alps Touchpad and installed the latest I could find 7.2.303.107. Got them from Toshiba's website. The GUI has far more configurable options and it has solved all the above issues. So far so good.
