Cablevision will be rolling out a web based DVR management portal on the optimum.net home page,
I'm not too familiar with the CV boxes, but there hasn't been an option for this? I'm pretty surprised since TiVo has had it for years. I'm not too familiar with the CV boxes, but how well does YouTube, podcast audio streaming, video podcast downloads (Diggnation, Tekzilla, Cnet, etc), Picasa, Photobucket, Music Choice VOD internet streams, Amazon video (both HD and non-HD content) Disney video library and Netflix work on it?

How well does it do off-loading of video in a variety of formats onto PCs, portable media players, etc. I assume Cisco/SA and Cablevision provides software for that (for both Macs and PCs), right? What about widgets? What platform does it use for them (e.g. Yahoo and user-developed ones are used on the TiVo for example). How good is the searching? Does it give a library view with related web content links?

Just wondering how the CV ranks by comparison.
Aren't you a CableCard/Tivo/Switching-adapter customer?

Even if you'd claim that have never had a CV cable box in your house, the above amounts to shameless advertising for Tivo's abilities, that are completely unmatched by any cable box, living or dead, today, on any provider, even on the DirectTV integrated-Tivo boxes, and I firmly believe that you not only know that CV's (or Verizon's) DSTBs don't do the above, but that you are trying to be incendiary here.

Trolling much today, aren't we?

It's true. We got the memo last week. The options to search for programming and schedule your DVR recordings through optimum.net.
That's it.

To many people that are having dvr issues. I wonder how many ever reboot their boxes...
If you are indeed an employee, and have access to such memos, and read them all the way to the very end - What do you think are the possible consequences for you personally for quoting from or referring to such a memo in public, ahead of any public announcement?

This is good news but none of the CV sites will open now. Did this tool crash all of CV's websites? I am at work so it may be the network here that is causing the problems.

I do not appear to have it (Long Island), but if that's how it works, what happens if you have 2 DVRs? Does it record on each?

It will ask which one you want to record to after you hit record, and I forget if it will go by SA number or MAC.

Could someone take a photo of what the page on the website looks like with the remote DVR option?

Also:

Can anyone confirm that you DON'T need Optimum Online service to use the web DVR remote feature. You just need to sign up on optimum.net for an account.

Because that "Agreement for Web DVR" isn't very clear about this.

"The Tool is only available to iO and Optimum Online Subscribers"

It doesn't say OR. It says AND. Meaning you obviously have to have IO. You need IO at the very least to even get a DVR.

Anybody here using the feature WITHOUT the online internet service?

Not available in Southern Westchester....

OT: now on the TV guide listing, when you view HD only channels, why do they include channel 131 as HD?

It's working for me. There's a DVR tab in the TV listings. You need to activate your DVR device from there, and then it displays all your recordings, etc.

Once that is done, you can either search for something to record, or click within the listings grid to see a "record to DVR (1, 2, 3)" there.
