IPTV trouble shooting/test equipment

Hello

I work for a small outfit that is offering the triple play of VoIP/IPTV/Data and I was wondering if anybody has come across an inexpensive way of monitoring and trouble shooting IPTV.

I was thinking of putting several beefy servers at strategic points in our network(HE/core/edge) and load them with TSR/ViewRight for trouble shooting and monitoring. Does any know of any other inexpensive (CHEAP) ways?

I know I am just hanging this out there for people to take shots ...so shoot away

We use these for MPEG stream analysis and network (multicast) analysis in our engineering lab.

Main use is to verify stream jitter / packet pacing, not so much verifying the validity of the individual PIDs.

Re: IPTV trouble shooting/test equipment

We are part of the SDN network and they are looking at deploying the same equipment for us IPTV guys. We are a small exchange in SD. We have been lacking in that area as well. We are just completing the first phase of our FTTF, Fiber to the Farm with Calix GPON and then our towns are ADSL+2. We are going HD and PVR in first quarter 2010 have not selected our Middleware yet but close.
