Verizon doesn't offer an easy ISP change process as they do for DSL service. For Fiber service you must have a cancellation order in the system with them before they will accept our order for new service. I would recommend placing our order shortly after placing the order with Verizon to disconnect your service with them. That can help minimize the downtime. The downtime is typically dependant on the availability of the installation following the dispatch.

2 edits | Thanks for your response. I figured they didn't make it as easy as switching DSL. Now once I place the disconnect order and you guys place your install order, do you know if Verizon will require a truck roll even though the ONT is already present? I'm hoping that they'll just flow the order without dispatching a technician, as there is absolutely no reason they'll need to. |

| reply to dslx_gm I'm also making the switch from Verizon Fios. I actually put in order in with DSL extreme before canceling with Verizon. Should I go ahead and call Verizon and get them to cancel? If I tell them to cancel on a certain date will your new service order get into their system? I'm trying to figure out how to reduce as much downtime as possible. |

| I would recommend placing a cancellation order with Verizon and selecting a due date that is a 7-10 days out. After placing that place an order with us and in the notes indicate that you have service with Verizon, placed a cancellation and include the date in the notes of the order. We will then select the soonest available due date after the cancellation. We can't guarantee the amount of downtime that you will experience due to not know the availability of the install techs in your area but it shouldn't be too long.

| Hi batsona -
You do have the ability to cancel just one service. You would need to make sure you aren't in a contract for all service but that would be between you and Verizon of course. You could then place a subsequent order with DSL Extreme to re-establish the Internet portion of the service.
The install would be pretty straight forward. I assume that once Verizon gets better density with their Fiber product they will eventually go to self installs like they do with DSL as if you have had Fiber at a location before it is pretty straight forward. That is just an assumption on my part though.
