Re: Unlimited calling to world?

Competition. This puts them close to Vonage as far as calling plans goes. Don't know what other bells and whistles Vonaage has but VT has a good set. Add in the option for international calling and maybe you can move some vonage customers over or at least keep them from going to Vonage, in addition to gaining defects from other voip companies that have no such offerings. On the prepay plans this is cheaper than Vonage. Month to month its $6.91 higher. Maybe the goal is to add more prepay accounts.

Granted matching it with the cell phone access would be better but might kill the bottom line. Don't know how VT is doing but Vonage is in the hole big time.

We've discussed this quite a bit, and cell phones will likely be added to this plan very shortly.

Just went to the website today... Saw VT_World added to the front page! This must be live now... not that I use this, but I think my mother might call her brother more often now.

Looking at the list of countries I see lots and lots of little asterisks... but the asterisks mean, and I quote:

"*Calls to cellular phones included"

This seems perfect for those looking for a Vonage competitor.

OK, I don't mean to be a kill-joy but how much in taxes and fees is added to the $8.95? Is it based in any way on the volume of international calling? Just curious.

Shouldn't be much since its a flat rate. USF and sales tax maybe whats added. Shouldn't effect 911 fees or regulatory recover fees.

Someone should soon post what that are. Several have had interest.

Any taxes and fees associated with your current international usage bills will be billed on this package as well. Sales tax, FUSF, etc.

Is there a limit of number of minutes on this world plan? I called Rep and they said it will be 1200 minutes per month.

I was not expecting 1200 minutes limit, but I went in and asked the rep to add this plan to my account. Need to test the quality after folks in India wakes up.

1200 minutes/month is nearly exactly what Betamax has at 300 min/7 days...

Many voip companies are started Unlimited calling to many countries(including India landlines and mobile)

Vonage - Unlimited(Maybe 5000 minutes cap)
Lingo - Unlimited
broadvoice - Unlimited
teleblend - Unlimited

viatalk is the only one giving 1200 International minutes. Lowest of all the other companies.

Yeah, but that's 40 minutes a day, every day. Considering the average residential landline customer only uses 600 minutes a month, 1200 international minutes is pretty generous and would be hard to use up if you are a residential customer.
