New FIOS Bundles

I noticed Verizon has just added another Bundle for $ 129 a month which includes Showtime. Is this a good package? My Contract will expires on 10/9 and I am trying to decide which way to go with any new Bundle packages. Presently I have the 20/5 with Verizon Freedom Essentials.

I had the same package as you. I called Thursday and talked to retention. The offered me one of three choices:

1) Free DVR for a year.
2) Free Movies pack for year.
3) Flat $10 off per month for a year.

There may be other deal out there now or in the near future. I decided to go with the free movies package.

Every area has different deals. I just signed a new contract for Extreme and the salesman on the phone promised me a free dvr for a year and 3 mo. free HBO/Cinemax. So I went to exhange one of my HD boxes for the "free" DVR and the store told me NO WAY. The salesman was just making things up for the sale. The only thing they finally gave me after 30 minutes of arguing was the $10 off per month but I got no free DVR. I didn't take any additional movie channels because many were added with the move to Extreme. So the package is supposed to come to $109.99 after the $10 per month credit, plus extra for the boxes.

Who know what the next bill will really be. But all the extra channels are very nice (I had Premiere so was locked out of a lot of HD channels) and the faster internet is good as well.

Check your bill carefully and get ready to call a lot to get it right.

That's the bundle we just ordered. We get essentials, extreme hd, all the premium movie channels including showtime. We get hbo/cinemax free for 90 days. I think the MRDVR free for 3 months. We got the 3 for 2 special and we get the 25/15 internet package.

how do you get in touch with retention ? is there a special number to call
I currently have extreme hd, fios phone, the old movie package (which includes showtime, starz, encore, etc) and hbo and I believe the 20/5 internet with mrdvr

what I am confused about is I don't know if my pricing ends this nov or next - I originally got fios in nov 07, upgraded to fios extreme hd when it became available so I don't know if my contract got extended or renewed when I switched to the extreme hd package or not if so then I would have another year left.

I don't know how to reach the retention dept, but if you go here:

Login and select the My Services tab to see what services you currently have, there will be a line on each service that says "My Agreement 12 Months until 10/2009" or whatever the correct end date is.

At least it does for me.

Be very careful with free DVR offer. I was offered that too during retention department conversation and accepted. Later bill did not reflect the credit, and several Verizon CSRs denied ever having such promotion offered. One even suggested last time it was offered was several months before my contract renewal took place.
I truly regret I did not record the conversation with retention department because otherwise there is no proof and no record. I am really unhappy with Verizon customer service.

I see they now took Verizon Wireless and One bill off of the four play bundle. Now you can't get more than a triple play. At least that's how it shows up for me. So now there is no way to get Verizon Wireless and One bill on anything.
I don't quite understand that.

I just called the regular fios number (I had a hell of a time finding it myself in the first place) and asked to speak to retention. I was told my pricing would expire with my contract (don't know if that is true or not). I previously signed up for another contract when extreme HD came out. Based on my experience, you should be able to get the movie package for free for 1 year. So your package would be $119 per month, which is $10 more, but you will get credit for the $15 you are paying for the movie package.

My contract is up Oct '09 and I currently have the triple play bundle (including Extreme HD TV, 20/5 Internet, Essentials phone) for $109.99/mo. I also have an HD DVR, but more on that later.

So, I just called Vz at 1-888-881-8161, got connected to Retention and the rep was kind enough to work out a deal to move me to the current $119.99/mo triple play bundle (Extreme HD, 25/15, Essentials) and give me a $15 credit toward my HD DVR for 1 year (I'm currently paying $19.99/mo; I will be paying $4.99/mo for a year), making my total bill $5.00/mo less than what I am currently paying.

In the end I'm paying $5.00/mo less than what I was paying and I got a +5/10 Internet speed bump, so if your contract is up and you have the triple play extreme bundle and an HD DVR, give it a shot.

My current contract runs $156.97

It includes Freedom Essentials with unlimited long distance
HD extreme
Movies pack WITH HBO and Cinemax.
Internet 20/5
HD Home media DVR in den with second HD box for bedroom

OK my actual contract is $126.99 without the boxes, but I paid $159.99 to Comcast for a similar deal (Digital starter/Preferred/Sne/HBO/Max/Show/TMC/Starz) plus only 8/2
I expect to get Epix for no extra charge.
My contract stays intact till July 2011

My contract is up Nov 5th. I called customer service today and said I wanted to renew.I have an HD DVR 6416, an sd box for the upstairs tv, and a small converter for my old dvd/vcr recorder.I have phone ,20/5 internet, and all movie and extreme hd. I have been paying $139 plus tax per month (Seattle area) I've been happy with the service and price The CSR offered me the same exact package , upgrade to 25/15 internet for the same $139 a month 1 year contract 2 year price guarantee...(What happens when/if Frontier takes over is another story) I may have bargained to get a better deal, but that sounded good, effective from my expire date Nov 5th also

I am a subscriber to the HD Extreme package and my 1-year deal is about to expire. For the past year the Extreme package as part of the the triple play bundle cost me $99 per month. The Extreme package was $109 per month and I got a $10 Extreme rebate on each bill.

I called to renew, knowing that the Extreme triple play has gone up to $119 per month for what I've already been getting. Based on advise in this forum I told the CSR I was not going to pay an addition $20 per month for basically the same package (I know the Internet is increased to 25x15 but this really doesn't help me that much). I asked to be passed on to the retention group and after some back-and-forth he offered me a $15-per month discount on my movie package for one year. This basically means I will be paying $5 per month more that I have been for the past year for Extreme and movies.

My question is does this sound like a good deal for right now? Has anyone been able to top that on a new 1-year contract? I haven't committed to this yet, I have about a week to decide.

My contract for the triple play bundle with HD extreme/Internet/phone essentials is up on Oct. 23rd. Called
VZ found out my bundle was going up around $10 before taxes. To save money I'm switching to the double play flex
HD extreme and internet (25/15) for $94.99 a month. I going
to use a VOIP company called Ooma. »www.ooma.com/ You have to purchase the equipment for $224 but there are NO monthly charges. Currently with VZ the phone is costing me $39 a month because of all the taxes on phone service. I figure that by purchasing the equipment will pay for itself after 6 months and then I will not have any monthly phone bill. VZ said they will keep my DVR and movie package at the current rate of $12.99 each. I'll believe that when I see it. Also got 3 free months of HBO/Cinemax for new double play contract. Bottom line is I'm saving about $40 / month by dropping the overpriced VZ phone service.

I am in Maryland and my contract expires this month and like many I have the triple play:

FiOS Triple Freedom $139.99
Includes:
- Verizon Freedom Essentials
- FiOS TV Extreme HD
- Movie/HBO/Cinemax Package
- FiOS Internet 20/5

TV Additional Services $54.95
Includes
- 1 High Definition STB Rental $9.99
- 3 HD DVR Rental at 12.99 $38.97
- 1 Standard STB Rental $5.99

Taxes, Fees and Other Charges $19.49
Total Charges $214.43

Yes, I know what some may say about so much TV but it works for my family.

Interesting in that this is the $109.00 Triple Play with the movies blended in. And this bundle without the premium movies is now $129.99, meaning I potentially face a $20 bump if nothing else changes. And perhaps a bump on the price of the DVRs or STBs.

I'm OK with what I currently pay given the value of the product and while I would like to pay less, I'd certainly like to not pay more. (When I had Comcast I had less than the above and paid over $250 per month, Verizon has been a good value for me.)

So I am very interested in seeing what people havhe been able to do regarding their bill and will share what I do once I decide.

I called in, very politely disagreed with getting an increase and was passed over to Retention. Retention then offered me about $20 worth of discounts to keep the renewal price about where it was. Bottom line - talk to Retention.

The $129.99 bundle includes Showtime, but does not include HBO/Cinemax. What you want to get is the new triple play bundle, including an Internet speed bump, for $119.99, HBO/Cinemax/Showtime/etc for $30 and you should be able to get a $15 credit toward one of your DVR's or Movie package for a year, but you need to talk to "Retention". I had the same services you did... see my post above.

OK, just got off phone with retention.

Sales said my contract was for 1 year and that the pricing was only set up for a year and was quite happy to re-up me "for just $10 more a month" and I had to say that I was not happy with that and mention Comcast and referral to retention was pretty quick.

Retention acted pretty much the way Stanky said they did with him. The new bundle with faster speeds and a $15 discount on the movie package results in a total bill about $5 less per month than what I was paying. The contract is for 12 months but the pricing is guarenteed for 2 years (while the discount is for 12 months only).

I'm OK with that, and it does seem that this might be the most common retention reaction to this.
