One thing I do not understand is the internet thing. Does Fios offer different speeds? I have never been happy with my performance and for this I would prefer Comcast.
Wow, you just don't hear that very often from hardcore Internet users.

While you might want to post this question over here »/forum/vzfios I can tell you that there are two speed packages currently: 15/5 and 25/15. The latter is actually provisioned at 25/25 and it may be that the 15/5 is also over provisioned as well. I myself get 27/26 on the 25/15 plan.

You might also want to post about your Internet performance issues in that forum, it's possible that something is misconfigured...

And last but not least, keep in mind that going with one provider for one thing and another provider for another is the probably the most expensive route -- bundling with one or the other is more likely to save you the most money.

anonanon, I presume that your change has taken place and that you are getting your HD channels? I tried the same several weeks ago and it cost me (loss of) the HD channels over the weekend since they later confirmed what I had suspected which was that there is no Extreme HD and 15/5 internet, only Essentials and 15/5. If you've got it, congratulations.
Yes, I'm getting all of the HD channels as before. I had about 10 days remaining on a free HBO/Cinemax promotion, and these channels disappeared. When I called they offered to extend the free offer for another 3 months, and they're back on. Cool!

Darn you . Why couldn't I get them to give me the same thing! Congrats on the package.

I suspect his bill will show Ex HD and 25/15 at $95 with $5 off/mo for 1 year.

I hope so. When I called back late Friday to have them correct my situation after my HD's were turned off I was told that there was no such package, only 15/5 with Essentials (not Extreme).

Yeah I followed the advice posted in other threads about the $5 discount for Flex Double ($10 for TP) and called Retention.

Chatted with a nice rep and basically made small talk while she browsed my acct. looking for ways to give me a discount.

In the end she said, ok the only discount I can offer is $5 off a month......

What they do is make it a $60 credit spread out over 12 months. It should kick in on my next billing cycle.

I renewed my contract today. I was able to keep my $109.99 rate for a year with a two year price protection, upgrade from 15/5 to 25/15, and get the free 3 month HBO/Cinemax promotion even though I just cancelled it last month.

I consider that not a bad deal.

With 25/15 internet, you are sure to have upgraded to their "Better" package with HD Extreme TV which is priced at 119.99, probably discounted back down to 109.99. Not a bad deal.

But, be aware the 2-year price protection applies to the 119.99, not the $10 discount. When you get your bill, look at the bundle price. That's what the price lock applies to.

Yes, I've got Extreme HD and (supposedly) 15/5 internet which is what they (supposedly) downgraded me to. Didn't lose any HD channels. Hope you get it straightened out; I went through the same sort of thing with them last year concerning the HD sports package.

Hello All,

Just got off the phone with retention. My contract expired today.

I was able to keep all my services and upgrades to 25/15.

That cost me $10.00 more.

I kinda wined a little about the price and not being able to get the quad play. She gave me a credit of $15.00 per month for the first year.

Will see what the bill looks like.

I just repackaged mine, but went from triple play to quad play and increased internet speed to 25/15 for the same price.

Over the course of my contract I've had horrendous billing issues almost monthly. As the end of my contract approached I called and asked for the best deal they could give me based on how they have abused me. Escalated to a supervisor the best they would do was the $5 off my extreme hd double play. On the last day of the contract I called and pressed 5 to cancel. The rep I spoke to asked why I was cancelling and I proceeded to make him listen to 5 minutes of my listing every billing issue I have gone through. To make the story short he offered a $15.99 credit for the HD DVR for 12 months plus HBO/Cinemax for 12 months.
Of course he explained that this would not be reflected in my first bill since this is not in the billing system and that they would have to manually credit this in each succeeding bill.
So this has the makings of the greatest billing disaster yet. What have I gotten myself into?

Sorry, but I have to ask why you would do that?

If you wanted credits for billing issues, you should have asked for them when those issues were being fixed.

Now you have two credits that are not accepted in the billing system with your flex bundle. Can you think of anything whatsoever that would trigger these credits being "manually" added each month, other than you spending time on the phone with Verizon monthly?

OK, to clarify... I have corrected all past billing issues and received relevent credits for them at the time. I just wanted to see if moving into a new contract I could receive some "goodwill" going forward for my past annoyances.

And yes I agree that "manual credits" are likely to be a problem despite the fact that the FiOs "elite" department says there will be no issues.

I am resigned to the problems but just couldn't pull the trigger on going back to Cox cable.

Hope it's not too painful. My time and sanity are too valuable to enter an agreement like that, and Verizon has been known to remove inappropriate credits discounts, if account audits trip over them. Good luck.

In the interest of getting $$ off via bundling of services - I recently (in the last year) lit up a cellular family package at the local VZ Wireless store. I asked if I could get a discount on my FiOS because I had wireless. I got "...uuuhhhhhhhhh", then they scribbled a phone number on a sticky note for me to call, but wouldn't commit to a 'yes'.

Didn't I just that in the last number of months, you CAN now bundle your cell service with FiOS (or at least get some $$ off of FiOS if you have VZ Wireless)

is this correct? Has anyone done this recently?

Hummm....I do not see how you are going to convince them to give you those credits every month on this new contract.

Unless they put a note on the account that other reps actually read and follow....what are the odds of that?

The bad thing is that even if you get the name of the rep you talked to, when you call back they tell you it is another call center in another state, etc. and they do not see any notes on the account or something like that.

Plus reps can not get incoming calls, so you can't call that same person to follow up.....did they give you their email address?
