I wanted to know when Magic Jack will be offering local numbers in New Hampshire. Would be great to get a local number. At least they have been honest in saying that they do not know when and to just keep checking back. However its time to check again!! |

If there are no Magic Jack telephone numbers in New Hampshire, consider applying for Google Voice. Pick a Google Voice telephone number that is a local call from the New Hampshire city you want to call your magic jack as a local call. Enter your Magic Jack Telephone Number as your home telephone number in Google Voice. Calls to your Google Voice number in New Hampshire will be forwarded to your Magic Jack Telephone Number in a nearby city in an adjacent state like Massachusetts.
There are no Magic Jack telephone numbers that are local from my home city in the 352 NPA. I applied for a Google Voice Number and was able to get a telephone number in Clermont, Florida that is a local call from my home in Eustis and a local call from Orlando. I applied for a Magic Jack telephone number in Orlando, the nearest city that has Magic Jack Telephone Numbers. Anyone wanting to call me can call my Google Voice Number which is a local call in Eustis and will be forwarded to my Magic Jack Telephone Number in Orlando which is normally a long distance call from my Eustis. |

However its time to check again!! No they have not been honest. None of the customer support reps have any clue as to when and if Dan B at MJ will ever expand the YMAX rate center availability. Remember ... MJ gets its numbers from its own parent company YMAX ... not from the variety of other CLECs (Competitive Local Exchange Carriers) that supply the more mature and feature rich VoIP offerings.
Here's a reference to the current area codes within which MJ has YMAX number availability. To determine if a specific RateCenter/City is available, simply click on the number/letter combination in the left column ("prefix information") that is associated with the Area Code shown in the "NPA" column.

Well lets hear it for area code 585. Still no numbers for an area as large as the Rochester,NY metro area. I am very happy with MJ, but I still have an 861 Batavia,NY exchange. We have that tied to my local Google Voice number, however. But not everyone local here that may want to get MJ has a Google Voice number. |
