remote terminal ADSL2+

I think i remember someone saying in the past that there was a technical limitation to providing ADSL2+ over a remote terminal or a repeater from a CO. I am not sure it is true. If it is I was wondering if this has been fixed? If it isn't true then I would like to know if Sonic has plans to extend fusion broadband to those who connect through remote terminals?

I am a regular dsl customer of Sonic and would like to upgrade.

That would be nice if they did. I know of a handful of people that would sign up if they offered it.

My understanding is that sonic.net would have to either lease space at the RT or build their own to do this and that they are now focusing on expanding service to various COs in the state.

Hopefully they will figure out a good way to expand their coverage to serve people further from COs in a cost effective way.

Who knows. Maybe building out their own fiber network is in their future! =)

There was a discussion about this in the "Feeling left out in San Jose" thread. RTs will only be considered in the North Bay.

Here is the reply where Dane clarifies RT deployment:

I haven't fully worked the numbers yet, but basically to build an RT, you'd spend roughly as much on backhaul fiber and RT construction as it would cost to simply build fiber the remainder of the distance to the customer premise.

The focus right now is on getting CO deployments up as rapidly as we can.
