| Kansas DSL Outage
Late last week I started having internet problems at home. Things would be working fine and then stop completely. The DSL light would stay on so it was only network connectivity I was losing. I would attempt to manually renew my IP address from the server but it would take several attempts over several minutes to get one again. Once I got this new address I could keep it anywhere from several minutes to several hours before it would fail and I would repeat the whole process again.
I finally called CenturyLink Sunday evening and got the recording that Kansas residents were having intermittent internet problems and that they would be resolved in 24 hours. Monday evening I was still having problems and called back. This time I waited around until I could talk to a person. They showed a ticket had been created at 12:00pm on Sunday but there had also been one before that. They could not access the systems needed to troubleshoot my modem so they assumed it was a partial fiber cut affecting the whole state. The ticket indicated the problem would be fixed by 2:00am Tuesday.
Service on Tuesday was not much better. I continued to have the same issues. In addition, I made the mistake of rebooting the PC we have at work that also has a CenturyLink Businss DSL that had previously not had problems. After the reboot I began experiencing the same problems at work that I had at home. However the business DSL has a static IP and the PC does not rely on DHCP. I called back Tuesday evening and the message indicated that I should turn off my PC and modem, power on the modem and once the lights are solid power on the PC. I did this under the impression that the issue was fixed.
This morning I continued to experience problems both at home and at work. I called back again and this time the message indicated that as of 7:30pm Eastern time on 10/27 Kansas internet was not working properly. I've talked to others in town with DSL and they are all seeing the same issues. Can someone from CenturyLink shed some light on this situation? What's the situation and when do you think it will be fixed? |

| I know that starting last Friday and over the weekend they were doing work behind the scenes, I assume combining Centurytel and Embarq. This could have something to do with the problem you are having. -- Ofallon, Mo Weather St. Peters, Mo Weather |
