| I think people are noticing Clear
Well as with this forum, the more Clear expands the greater the need for the service will be. I have friends everywhere who have interest in Clear service, and it seems the more Clear launches networks the more people open up to the service. This forum itself has rissen above the Verizon and Sprint forums in terms of popularity already and those two companies have deployment everywhere just about. I get the feeling that Clear is going to be a huge success. |

| I also hope that Clear will be a bigger success story, however............ As I posted beforehand, my Clearwire service before the WIMAX upgrade was phenominal. But now, it's horrendous and I'm having to consider satellite or another high-priced option. And another problem, there's no one to talk to about this. Clear tech support just plays the script and the local Clear people in Abilene Texas are brain dead as far as their local Clear service goes.
Good for you and your excellent Clear performance goes. Mine should be just as good since I'm only 4 miles from the tower, but again, I can't convince the local Clear retards that the tower may have a poor performing lobe. And Clear tech support now can't give exact tower output as they could before (I've been told).
Anyway.............. |

1 edit | reply to w0g I've been following Clear since 2007 actually, them and Sprint. I've always got the feeling that Sprint was the Google of the telecom biz, and WiMAX was truly the next WiFi. Sprint likes to embrace and deploy the most technically advanced phones and networks they can, and are very liberal about use for the most part. The way the WiMAX is setup to be open and all hardware compatible, plus the speed, and being deployed long before LTE, gives it huge advantages. Intel and other companies are including it stock in PCs, and people can just click connect and subscribe to service if they want, it's that easy. LTE doesn't offer any advantage over WiMAX, in fact it's worse being a closed-technology up to the operator to decide who uses and how it's used technology. I can't see a reason why any consumer would want LTE over WiMAX. |

| reply to w0g They will be a success so long as the can consistently deliver. I'm blessed (in a way) to be in one of their early markets, but I hope they've leaned some things this year that they use heading into future expansions. Personally I would prefer a slightly slower rollout and more focus on providing a better and more reliable experience in and around each market they bring online.
ernliz - I've seen your troubles and that sucks, but I did read something about exec's at the ITexpo talking about 2010 focusing on spreading coverage and a ton of markets in TX so perhaps they will address your area in the course of that. Not much consolation I know.
I don't really understand the 1 bill thing either... now one bundle I understand. |

| reply to w0g I'm happy for you and the quality of your connection but it sounds like you are in the minority. I don't suppose you work for clear... do you?
For me the clear wimax upgrade has been a complete failure.
With the old system i had a great connection. With the new system the majority of the time it does not connect and when it does, the connection is horrible. I can see the tower from my house, it's about 5 miles from my house and there are just a couple trees in the way.
Calls to clear tech support are useless, yielding a little more than the "move your modem" suggestion. When I ask if they are going to expand the system or improve things the only answer I have heard is probably not. The lack of information about what is going on is pretty frustrating.
With all the reports of inconsistent/poor performance I am surprised that people are interested in the new clear system. |
