Is Router Mac Address/Name used by wireless client?

Got a back up Linksys router WRT54GL to support my old WRT54GS and set it up the with the same Network settings and WEP security configuration. 4 wireless connections: 2 bridges, printer and xbox connect up with no problem without config changes. The Thinkpad laptop with ThinkVantage software doesn't. Could it be a different router Name/MAC address causing my problem?

Re: Is Router Mac Address/Name used by wireless client?

My firewall software complains if I switch routers. Specifically, it tells me that I have connected to a new network and asks whether to treat this as a public network or a trusted LAN. It is using the MAC address of the router to detect the change.

The Windows Vista firewall also notices the change, but it allows me to "merge" the two networks (treat them as one network).

This does not answer your question. But I think it makes clear that firewall software may be using the router MAC address as an indicator as to whether you have moved the computer to a new network. If the firewall does that, I would expect it to go into its most restrictive settings until you tell it otherwise.
