Any ideas as to how I would open the case on this? My AC port has become loose, and I was going to resolder it.. but I cannot find any way of opening it up, short of destroying the case. |

| A fair point. When you have zero soldering skills like me, purchase is the only option.
I just checked my T42p's power adapter and there don't appear to be any screws hidden under the label, which would imply that it just needs to be "unsnapped". I would try carefully prying the seam on the side with a wide blade of some sort to try to get it started. Depending on how the internal snaps are designed, IBM may not have wanted anyone getting in there without doing damage. |

| reply to devicenull Don't have one, darn it, but does it have any rubber feet? Perchance the screw holes might be under them. Had that happen to me when I was trying to figure out how to open a Microsoft Trackball. The durned screw holes were UNDER the pads! -- I'm Forever Folding For Team Helix Autism Speaks, Please Listen! |

| It looks like it was designed to not be opened.. No rubber feet hiding screws
I'm not exactly surprised, I doubt IBM wants people screwing around with their power adapters.
I guess I'm just going to buy another one. Worst case I figure out how to open it later, and end up with two working ones. |

If you look on eBay you can find Brand New power supplies for a cheap price. They are IBM/Lenovo parts, Not after market.
