| [ThumbsUp] For Rogers this time for speed
 NetWorx Monitor |
Ok I'm always very critical but for the first time since I've had rogers I've downloaded about 4Gig from NNTP at max speed with no hiccups or lag whatsoever. Maybe this will change my view of Rogers. |

Edit: Oh, you just mean you can get full speeds from a 3rd party newsgroup provider. |

| reply to Stewy Which newsgroup provider were you using Stewy? I've been using Giganews for about 2-3 years now and not once have I ever experienced lag or hiccups. Unless of course the connection itself was being flaky (Something that hasn't happened in at least a year and a half for me on Rogers). -- Weeeeeee |

| reply to Stewy This has not been my experience at all. I used to be able to download @ 800 KB/S from Giganews with SSL until about 2 weeks ago. These days I barely get 200KB/S.
So I decided I would upgrade to the Extreme Plus plan and the speeds are still stuck at 200KB/s |

1 edit | reply to Stewy I get ~ 1.17 MB/s using SSL encryption on a European server. Giganews is way over-priced. Try Astraweb.

When you open a group and see 54 Million headers you kinda go hhhmmmm.

My Astraweb account also rolls over but I do not have to pay $25 every month. I only pay when I run out of the 180 gigs. I dont download that much so this plan is perfect for me. Correction on my initial post, the $25 is for 180 gigs for life, and does not expire at the end of the month. |

4 x $25 = 720Gig 1 x $99 = 600Gig + email |
