| DCX3400 - eSATA/FW?
Is it possible to add additional storage or transfer things to an external that were recorded w/ DVR via the eSATA or FireWire ports on this new unit?
I just got this box this morning, so far I'm impressed with it's design, and functionality and was quite surprised to see that it had eSATA.
Thanks for any tips anyone can give me. |

I asked Comcast if this DVR can be hooked up to an external hard drive and he said they are in the testing phase and will possible enable the port for future hard drive expansion |

| reply to AgentPhish Right now a lot of people are having issues with even the Firewire port on the DCX3400. As soon as it's plugged in, the a/v stutters like crazy, the system comes to a complete crawl, like some process is hijacking 100% of the CPU. As soon as the cable is unplugged, the DCX returns to normal operation. |

2 edits | reply to cypherstream I posted in a previous post that I found the DCX3400 has the firewire stutter and dropout problem if both tuners are set to encrypted channels. There are no dropouts if the 2nd tuner is set to a CLR flagged station. At least one tuner must be CLR for the firewire to output without dropouts.
I have not been able to solve the random DVR reboot issue when the firewire is connected.
The DCX3400 is a nice box, but it is a headache for firewire. I would exchange it for another model if firewire is your primary output. |
