Looking for a the "best" anti virus program that works with Windows 7. Tried Avast and do not like. Besides AVG what is the safest and best anti virus program out there? Thanks.

MSE would be perfect if they made it a complete all in one product like Comodo Internet Security.

The Software Firewall makes all the difference to me.

If MSE added firewall I would switch from Comodo.

Of course MSE would have to be easy on resources like Comodo.

Have you tried Avast! 5? About to come out of beta, so already pretty mature, with quite a different look and feel than the 4.8 version.

What didn't you like about avast?
The gui or the fact that the options and menu items are hard to find at first....one does get used to it, not the gui though....blah!

You should *never* run more than one antivirus product that provides real time protection as they will conflict, causing performance issues, system instability, and may even cause protection to be compromised.
MSE should not be installed on a system that includes any other antivirus program.

Again and again and again and again: the "best" don't exist.

Totally agree no such thing as the best, it all depends on your taste and what you think is the best.

I run AVG Free 9 and Threatfire together and have no problems whatsoever.

It does, check the options and set the time of day to scan and have it update just before it scans.

I'm not at a pc with it, or I'd be more precise.

There is no "best", there's only what works well for YOU on YOUR computer. It's a matter of trial-and-error that you have to go through to find what works best for you. We can only tell you what works well for US.

In all the topics you've started about AV's, you've gotten a cross-section of the top AV's that people here use. You've just got to work your way through them and find what you like. It's a pain in the butt to do, especially if the software doesn't remove cleanly the first time, and it takes time, but once you find one that works for you, you're golden.

I have Avast! 5.0.221 on 2 Vista computers with no scanning issues for POP3 or IMAP4. What client are you using? Have seen some reports of gmail issues with the Thunderbird 3 beta, but no problems with TB 2.0.23 that I am using. Also liked MSE, but prefer the Avast! 5 features plus controllability and vendor support.
