| This is weird but now Mj works
When I first set up MJ it would not work on my PC. i signed up for Lingo and they ripped me off. I bought a dell computer, went back to Radio Shack and mj worked. Today I turn my other computer on the one when MJ did not work and now it works. I wonder if I bought a faulty MJ the first time around because the MJ I bought at Walmart, works on both computers. I have to say I am very happy with MJ now. And it is my only phone, besides my Cell. |

| reply to rattfan69 I've had the same problem: periods when MJ just doesn't/won't work.
No good reason, no apparent reason and I'm fairly skilled at problem solving computer issues.
Then, MJ will mysteriously work again. Doesn't happen very often, maybe once or twice a year but I've gone through the same thing. |

| reply to rattfan69 Well since you are good with computer issues I wanted to ask you something. On my Dell it will not let me download games because I need an msi file. I went to web site to download the msi file but then it won't let me open it because I do not have the program to open the file. This means I can't download my PC game FF XI.. I mean it goes and downloads some of it, then comes back and won't let me download the rest, error message msi.. How can I fix the issue and when I bought my Dell I bougt it on ebay and it did not come with a windows 200 disk, but it is installed on the pc. |

FF6 should play on Windows 2000 but geez, that's so old, I wouldn't guess on how to trouble shoot it.
I can tell you your description of your msi problem doesn't sound right. *.msi files self execute and downloading something off the internet should never involve an msi file. |

Sounds like file association for type .msi is not set right. |

On the Internet there is a site called steam for video games and FF XI is also a game on that site. When I downloaded the program it is an msi file. It worked on my other PC, but the power supplu does not work. |

2 edits | reply to rattfan69 I went to all the sites suggested here and here is what keeps happening when I try to download any file for msi..
When I go to download a file for msi and I have tried many different msi downloads it says:
Set up has detected that the service pack version of this system is newer than the up date you are applying, there is no need to install this update..Um yea there is because I still can't download my video game disk. LOL...
When I try to install the disk I get this message: 1607 unable to install shield scripting runtime. So if it has detected that the service pack version of this system is newer, than the update you are applying, there is no need to install this update, then why do I get the error message 1607? and yes I have shut down my pc many times and rebooted. Is there a way to fix, this, like how? I have been trying to fix this for days now, this msi thing. |

I tried those sites also and it still does not work. I also did happen to download an msi file and I still can't load my CD. The CD is good..I tried another CD and I have the same problem, so it is not the disk. I have tried several sites and did all they asked me to do and the msi files still can't be read. I think I know more about computers now, than I ever did after going through all of that. LOL..I am not sure what to do now as nothing seems to work. I do not have the windows disk as i bought this dell on ebay. I have windows 98 disk but then it wants me to boot in dos mode and once in dos mode I do not know the commands to make it work..i bet you Windows is corrupted, or something is wrong with this PC as i did buy it referbished. I did take out my broken power supply on my old computer because the fan does not spin..I am going to take that broken power supply to Radio shack and have them give me the right power supply for it because on that computer my game disk will work. That is all I can think of to do.

4 edits | reply to rattfan69 When I type in msiexec /regserver, nothing comes up..When I run it..I hit start, then go to run and type it in, then hit enter, or ok.
Man the Cd almost downloaded, then i get this message and I really thought it was going to work. I get this error message: 1335...The download was almost complete..What the hell..
Also MSIServer is no where to be found and yes I read where to find it and it is not there. I looked many times for the MSIServer and it's not listed..And I can't seem to download msi files, except one msi file and it did not work. I cleaned out Temp files and I did a lot more than that. I wanted to install Windows 98 but I have to start in dos and I do not know the commands to install it. I have Windows xp 2000, without a back up disk. I only have windows 98 for a back up disk and i can't even get that to work because I know nothing about dos.
Why Do I have a feeling this is not good. LOL. I also went to windows installer folder and I must have over 30 window installer programs. So as you can see that is not going to work by now.
Edit the Registry************ Click the Start button. Click Run. The Run window appears. In the Open: field, type: regedit Click the OK button. The Registry Editor appears. In the left pane, click the plus sign (+) next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. Click the plus sign (+) next to SYSTEM. Click the plus sign (+) next to CurrentControlSet. Click the plus sign (+) next to Services. Click the plus sign (+) next to MSIServer. I had to stop here because there is no MSIServer..not on my computer. |
