@telus.net | [BC] Speed Issues - Okanagan
Anyone else in the Okanagan having speed issues? I can normally get 3.1 mbps from the Telus FTP server, but for the past day or so, I max out at about 2.5 mbps. |

| reply to couttsj There is something strange going on with the Telus FTP server. Download tests start slowly, and then pick up speed. Downloading a larger file is at a faster speed than downloading a short file. Is this a property of the FTP server, or the network itself? Has Telus introduced some kind of throttling mechanism, or some kind of synchronizing system? |

| reply to couttsj Ran some more tests during off hours.
1 MB - 13.5 sec - 0.59 Mbps - 0.76 Mbps with O/H 4 MB - 16.8 sec - 1.90 Mbps - 2.39 Mbps with O/H 8 MB - 29.3 sec - 2.20 Mbps - 2.74 Mbps with O/H 20 MB - 71.4 sec - 2.24 Mbps - 2.81 Mbps with O/H
This indicates to me that it is not a line sync issue. It has to do with either the server or the network itself. If the transfer started at the full rate, I suspect that I would get the normal 3.1 Mbps with O/H on all downloads. |
