 Help! Possible Malware problem...

I hope someone can help with my problem...

Today I was downloading a .zip file via iMesh. As soon as it finished, my computer started acting very strange. First, the computer seemed to respond EXTREMELY slowly. Then, all of a sudden it rebooted itself. Upon restart, it would freeze at the blank screen just before my desktop appears. My computer is a p4 3.4 so my normal boot time is around the 10-15 second range. Now, it was in the 4-5 minute window. I even tried safe mode, with the same results.

To make matters worse, NONE of my program files will load. I try to go to Program Files, but upon clicking the folder I get a message "The disk in drive C: is not formatted. Format now?". Now, I know better than that so I clicked CANCEL. Needless to say, nothing will start up.

Thankfully, Firefox still loads, although the opening of the program is VERY SLOW, internet browsing is bearable. Also, START MENU>All Programs will not open, which I'm guessing is part of the "Program Files" problem.

On top of all this, any task that should take my computer 2 seconds to complete is now taking in excess of 5 minutes to do!!!

Could this be a nasty malware problem, or some type of virus? NOTE: I cannot open NORTON!

Thanks!

Sure sounds like it.. Could be a hardware problem too..

But I'd sure give this a try:
