@cebridge.net

The most bizzare connection issues you've ever seen.

First off I am so glad I found this forum. I have been with Suddenlink for about a year now and I have had lots of issues. I have tried researching google, tried swapping modems, routers, network cards you name it.

Sometimes when I am on the phone with SL it just doesn't seem I am getting through, same when the tech shows up. I have had I think 4 or 5 appointments in about 10 months.

Anyhow where to start...

My connection is 3mb down and that is the highest offered in my area.

My wife and I play the game World of Warcraft and for the entire 10 months the availability of us being playing is completely up to the internet gods that be.

I can go weeks with zero issues and then go months with anytime after 5pm CST having extremely highs MS 500-1000 and pings in Ventrillo from 700-10000.

These issues aren't just related to the above programs. My internet surfing takes a tremendous hit with sites as simple as google taking forever to load.

From Jan. 09 to around April 09 I had great internet....except Sunday from 6pm on. The internet every Sunday night would just completely tank and not work for at least 3-5 hours. This is the first time I've ever seen anything like this. And I mean ZERO internet not just laggy.

The tech guy came out and said he had no clue what it could be (of course he came during the week so he couldn't see the issue since it only happened on Sunday nights) and I guess he just rewired, re-tightened cables, etc because after he left it really seemed to work fine.

Well for the last 2 or 3 months it's just hit and miss. And for the last month any day of the week from 6 am - 5 pm the internet is fine. After that it basically dies out until sometimes after 12 am.

What I have described isn't even the weird issue. Anytime there is a storm anywhere in Arkansas (I live around Pine Bluff) I get warnings from Batesville to Texaracana to Chicot county, and when this happens the warning takes over my TV. Every single channel and 100% of the picture is completely blacked out with the warning for areas over 3 hours from where I live. Not only that it completely destroys my internet. I have to unplug everything and wait 15 minutes, plug it back in for it to work. The other night though it happened 6 times at 30 minute intervals. So yeah no internet that night.

I called and spoke to SL they said it wasn't them and nothing they could do, and then they finally sent a tech guy out who claimed the people in TX didn't know what they were talking about and that it was SL and there was nothing they could do.

Can someone please please help me. I am in dire need of help on this issue. I consider myself fairly computer literate and have done everything on my end to make this issue go away to no aval.

Anything that is needed please let me know. Thanks so so much!

I forgot to mention...

I live in a duplex (my neighbor is a single lady no kids probably in late 40's).

If I would describe my latency issues it would be like....

When I used to live with a roommate about 3 years ago (on a different cable provider)....

He would constantly be downloading stuff in his room. Well being on the same wired router anytime he had downloads going it would just destroy my connection. No videos, no music, online games, etc.

Well that is what it reminds me of anyhow. But seeing as how it's just me and my wife in my house I know we aren't downloading anything. And if I am not mistaken even if the lady next door was downloading that shouldn't effect my connection.

Thoughts?

Well all the bandwidth in your "node" is shared so technically anyone accessing the internet in your area is sharing what is available. Only thing you can really have someone do is check all the connectors, make sure their good, make sure signals all add up. Make sure their is no ber's, bkers, make sure your snr is good, both downstream and upstream. Basically you need a tech to come out and check things out again. Sounds like an intermittent issue, hopefully when they come out they find something wrong.

Araiden thanks for your response. Please forgive my ignorance but are you suggesting I call up SL and ask them to check the connectors, make sure the signals add up. And to check for ber's, bkers, and that the snr is good?

I hope they would know what I was talking about because I sure wouldn't. =)

Also that is a pretty crappy setup if someone is downloading torrents when they get off work and that is what is destroying my connection.

Again that is just what it makes me think of.

Just funny that during the day the connection is fine but from 5pm and on it steadily gets worse. I was actually up around 1 am last night and the lag was still pretty strong.

Well thanks for your input!

I would let the call center know your having an ongoing issue. Ask them if they can send out a lead tech. It's possible the other technician might have missed something.
