How about offering service that will bring TRUE compeition to cable? I read their homepage and they claim to have fiber.
Also, heard that CLINK is capped upspeed @ 384 on all tiers how about offering 10/10 for $39.95 a month? or 20/5?? We need more FIOS like products to bring stiffer competition across the board. and folks in Vegas are pissed because Cox there hasn't upgraded due to lack of reason.
I'm done for now and got vonage, Cox HSI, and Cox Cable until I see CLINK offer REAL cable tv (not satellite) which will hopefully come soon and FIOS like speeds here in the Ft Walton Beach area.
Comon guys make Cox piss in their pants!!

| reply to robl27 I don't know about those prices, but Vegas could use some love.
And not the "bonded ADSL" love that CenturyTel had planned, either. I'm going to be brutally honest when I say that DSL coverage is piss poor in this town considering it is Embarq's (or now CenturyLink) largest and most profitable market. Yes, I know, some of you can get 10 Mbps DSL, but the majority of us are incapable of anything higher than 1.5 Mbps. Cox doesn't even have to break a sweat to compete, as it currently stands. -- "If it can't be done with brains, it can't be done with hours" - Clarence "Kelly" Johnson |

| reply to robl27 Bonded DSL can be a decent service... 2 Mbps up, up to 30 Mbps down (see Sonic.net). There's also a much larger probability of anyone geting it vs. fiber.
That said, I think CTel has IPTV and 20/2 fiber in some markets. Which could also be done over bonded ADSL2+. Yes, fiber is better. It's also more expensive.
Trust me, I'd like better service from the telco in my area as well. I'm right outside Denver (AFAIK Qwest's largest market, though that might be Phoenix). ADSL only...real-world speeds top out at ~6 Mbps down and ~715 kbps up...if you're close enough to the DSLAM. Qwest has VDSL2 in some areas but not ours. As such, I'm using Comcast.
Unfortunately, fiber is: A) Expensive to the home B) The only way to get uploads over 2 Mbps over decent distances
So telcos have a big jump to make if they're on copper right now. Look for ADSL2+ line bonding as a stopgap measure, probably with IPTV. Then there will be an upgrade later on with fiber.
Also, for the record CenTel's speeds top out at 768 kbps up on DSL. Not as bad as 384k, though not amazing either. |

join:2000-10-27 | A while back when copper was being stolen must have been some value on the copper, pull up all the old copper and sell it to pay for construction of the FIBER. Sounds like a great idea to me. |
