Get out of fap jail card..

Somehow we manged to exceed our bandwidth this morning and didn't know what caused it, automatic updates were disabled, no malware on any computers so we eliminated the obvious.

It seems a member was correct about the download tokens, they'll unfap you once a month for free, but it's $10 each additional time during the month, they refer to it as "tokens".

Thanks for the information, you have undoubtedly saved us some grief for when we are unscrupulously throttled for reasons beyond our understanding. We checked the usual suspects and could not find any indication of why we were fapped.

It is highly important our connection is running semi-decently because of the online classes my father is taking for college.

We also heard of the new usage tool from Hughesnet, so the information that was posted was accurate and on the money.

[HN9000] Explanation from ECC for Slow Speeds

Originally from a thread on testmy.net in the Hughesnet forum.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
I got a phone call earlier today from executive support, heres what they telling me:

The engineering dept is well aware of the terrible speed drops and are currently working on the fix for HN9000 customers....the Ka band is getting swarmed by all the people moving from the older Ku systems and new installs. The beams are not overloaded but the hubs or gateways are the bottlenecks....more hubs are going to be used in the next 30 days to eliminate the congestion.

WOW! the NOC didn't think that one out very good did they?

[HN9000] New Greasemonkey script pulls real-time usage info

I have a new version of the Greasemonkey script that pulls real-time usage info from the HN9000 modem and displays that info on the Hughesnet Usage page.

I could use 3 or 4 beta testers to try it out before I make it generally available. I'd prefer that any beta volunteers be at least semi-technically savvy. You'll need the latest version of Firefox, the Greasemonkey add-on and, obviously, an HN9000 modem.

IM me if you are interested.

thanks.

Hello, I have the HN 9000 modem and the lan light will not stay on at all times. I can only get a limited connection at times and have a hard time loading some pages. This has been going on for about a month after i moved my computer desk, but i have verified that all cables are hooked up correctly. Hughesnet customer support is not helping any. I would appreciate any help. Thanks!

[HN7000S] Lan Red X SLLLLOOOOWWWW.....

Ok been reading the forums, and talked to India.....

I saw some posts about all the Red X in the Lan area in diagnostics.....what to do?

I am a tech and have gone through the router and without it, and it is configured correctly with DD-WRT V24......and was working great until a few weeks ago and speeds are around 100k dl and 100 to 200k up....

What is the LAN area referring to? My LAN? as i can connect into the modem fast and with no errors.....

Here is a snap of the log:
TurboPage Diagnostic Statistics
---------------------------------------------------------------
Status BAD
LAN side send block 835(35%) BAD *
---------------------------------------------------------------
VSAT Internal Diagnostic Statistics
---------------------------------------------------------------
Status BAD
TCP data packet retx 729(18.76%) BAD *
---------------------------------------------------------------
Traffic Activity

Interface Bytes Packets Rate Activity
LAN Rx 514.20K 3818 13.71Kbps HIGH
Uplink 91.24K 940 2.43Kbps TYPICAL
Downlink 6.61M 8402 176.35Kbps TYPICAL
LAN Tx 5.83M 5433 155.50Kbps TYPICAL

Just the bad parts, but the red x's are more than 1/2 the line there.....

Ugh. And I am in the middle of no where........so no other choice.

[HN9000] New User THROTTLING after day 31-32 Proven Twice

I been looking for this data to post, but it was offline on another hard drive.
I had this same series of events occur on TWO Hughesnet Accounts. This is the SECOND ACCOUNT. DSS825XXXX.
After signing up for this SECOND account upon the recommendation of Hughes ECC (They could NOT figure what was wrong with the FIRST system). As I will post the previous results of the FIRST system next...
This just goes to show you that HUGHESNET offers you PERFECT speeds for the FIRST 30 days when you are a new user of the system. Speeds were close to the advertised speeds of the PRO PLUS plan (1.6mbps - fap 425MB/day).

5/13 to 6/14 Awesome Performance. Consistent Performance. Was NEVER fapped during that period. Speeds during so called "PEAK TIME" were never affected.... (later on, the major excuse by tech support)..

NOW, Look at 6/15 to 6/19. a DRASTIC decrease in speeds.
Note... None of these times were in FAP, and there was nothing wrong with the equipment. (noting there a few high spikes in speeds several times).

6/15 is when I called ECC again. First words out of their mouths "We do not guarantee speeds... Accept the system with its flaws of cancel immediately...... I wanted to hear what Tier-4 had to say again, and of course, the same ole excuses....They never or will admit that they throttle, and the NOC will never be available for a discussion. FINALLY, on 6/20, ECC stated "we will NOT go through this again, We will cancel your account immediately, and you are no longer obligated...Please return your equipment".

Ok, they didn't want to deal with a problem that has repeated itself TWICE! Actually on 6/19, I had TOLD them to cancel it, and I was going to dispute any charges to my credit card.

Some people probably dont mind being throttled.....But It I was going to pay $79.99 a month for 1.6mbps service... i'm going to get it or else. Else happened to be the outcome.

If the SAME has happened to you and you aren't complaining....well, then you deserve the sucky speeds you are getting.

[HN9000] Getting out of contract?

I was wondering if anyone was aware of the least costly way to get out of a hughesnet contract. My family has had it for several months now and the service is not acceptable for the cost and we are going elsewhere for service. Thanks for the advice

Did anybody got this e-mail??

Seems like hughesnet wants to know how we feel about their internet.

I told them I feel less connected to the world. (fap)

[HN9000] Hughes lying about speed

I have the HN9000 modem and subscribe to the ProPlus plan.....which advertises 1.6 Mbps down & 250 Kbps up.

My download speeds have been very slow, for example I download some audio drivers and Firefox reports 22.4KB/sec (about 179kbps).

If you call Hughes, they make you run a speed test from their site ( http://satspeedtest.hughesnet.com/cgi/launch2.cgi ). Of course, it ALWAYS reports great speeds. Last test showed 1573 kbps down & 265 kbps up:

If I perform a speed test from dslreports, it shows I'm only getting 129 kbps down & 186 kbps up.

And here is another dslreports speedtest: 78 kbps down & 176 kbps up.

Obviously Hughes is not reporting the correct speed with their own speed test.....so that when you call for help they can tell you that your getting GREAT speeds and that nothing is wrong with your system. BS!
