How to download many torrents?

I am adding 5000 torrents to uTorrent (or what ever torrent) and just let them download over a time...

but the problem is that there are a some torrents that have few seeds or very very slow seeds (or no seeds - but I will delete those) they will get the queue stuck - preventing the rest of the torrents from downloading until processed...

is there a way to prevent this? a way around this?

one way is to try to for the queue so that torrents with most seeds are in the front of the queue... but even those can get stuck some times

and if I have only 6 torrents active - eventually they could all get stuck with torrents that do not complete and thus the rest do not start and never complete...

P2P issues

I have been getting ridiculously slow P2P download speeds for utorrent and for the blizzard downloader (also uses P2P). I had been originally getting slow download speed through direct browser downloads but fixed that after doing the "netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disable" command. All ports are forwarded correctly. I am running windows vista ultimate 64 bit and theoretically should be getting 150kbps down but am only reciving 20 kbps or less. If anyone has any idea what is going on help would be greatly appreciated.

Mininova limits its activities to Content Distribution service

Published on November 26, 2009 in Mininova-related news. 93 Comments

Hi all,

Today is an important day in the history of Mininova. From now on, we are limiting Mininova.org to our Content Distribution service. By doing so, we comply with the ruling of the Court of Utrecht of last August.

Unfortunately the court ruling leaves us no other option than to take our platform offline, except for the Content Distribution service. According to the verdict (Dutch link) we have to prevent uploads of torrents to Mininova that refer to certain titles or to similar-looking titles. We’ve been testing some filtering systems the last couple of months, but we found that it’s neither technically nor operationally possible to implement a 100% working filter system. Therefore, we decided that the only option is to limit Mininova to Content Distribution torrents from now on. We are still considering an appeal at this moment.

We launched our Content Distribution service in 2007. This service allows producers and artists to easily publish and distribute their content for free through Mininova. The launch of Content Distribution has proven to be a success. Countless content owners have used Content Distribution to distribute their content (e.g. albums and documentaries) for free to millions of users. For example, the Dutch band Silence is Sexy released their complete album on Mininova and received the Interactive Award 2009 for doing so. The Dutch television broadcaster VPRO decided to start using Content Distribution in 2009 in order to distribute documentaries.

We would like to thank you for your support. Especially everyone that contributed to Mininova receives a big “thank you!” for the effort! We hope to keep welcoming you on Mininova and our other projects (e.g. Snotr, Dispostable).

Thanks! The Mininova staff.

TL;DR- MiniNova is only serving legal content. One down, 9346362 to go **AA fuck boys!

I still like the idea of serving starving artist's torrents; gives us another avenue for distribution.

[Newsgroups] Black Friday Usenet!

If this belongs in the Hot Deals forum for Black Friday deals, I apologize, please move...I had figured most users that frequent that forum would not care about it... :D

Without further "ado", since I don't think it has been done before, figured we would try bringing "Black Friday" / "Cyber Monday" chaos to Usenet.

Late Thursday night just after midnight this page will become active for purchases: http://usenetnow.net/holidays.html

$8.99 per month as long as subscription remains active.

In Black Friday fashion, deals are usually limited by inventory or time frames, so this is being limited to the first 400 sign ups OR until 11 AM eastern time that morning.

At that same link, beginning Cyber Monday morning through the rest of the holidays:

$48 every 6 months; this was popular since many folks didnt want to pay a whole year in advance.

For those block users among us, 500 GBs for $51 is up now, through the rest of the holidays: http://blocknews.net/holidays.html

Happy Holidays to everyone, whatever it is you may celebrate! :)

[Newsgroups] Article not found issue

After a few years of using Grabit to access my Giganews account, I'm getting more than my share of "article not found" errors.
I recently downgraded my account from 25GB to 5 GB, because I wasn't downloading as much as in the past, but would grab a file now and again.
I have a fios connection,(cable prior to that) and I've never been throttled or restricted. I don't have that kind of traffic IMHO.
Recently I put my home server up as a file sharer to a few passworded people, but the ports used aren't conflicting.
Kinda baffled, I put in a service ticket to Giganews. Any suggestions what I could look for?
 I uninstalled/reinstalled Grabit, same result.

SABnzbd-0.5.0 Beta1

Wow this sure is going to be interesting! The features I am really liking is Password Support - Basic support for password protected rar-files, and .TS filejoining.

So many newsgroup programs needed these two features for so long now! Glad to see SABnzbd finally brings them to the table! Amazing it has been in testing for 1 year looks like it was worth the wait even if it is only in beta now.
