[Billing] Fees for Cable Cards

I pay $6.95/month for an "outlet fee" for each of my 4 cables cards, about $28/month. My friend down the street just get cable cards and they told him it's $1.50/month for cable cards. I wasted 50 mins with Comcast chat trying to figure out what is the correct price. Any insight? Thanks I'm in MN btw 55311

Digital Channel Lineup without a Box???

Anybody know where one can get a channel lineup if you don't have a cable box?

For example, the Analog Disney channel is 24, but the digital version is 78.5

Comcast support is basically useless. They will give a lineup for use with their box (which remaps channels) but claim my TV is considered third party equipment and don't have a standard lineup to give me.

We added a new TV in our kitchen and bedroom and don't need any of the paid channels line HBO there. Just want the broadcast digital channels we get with our service. TV detects 200+ channels, about half of which are digital, and I can "hide" the analog ones. Problem is that there is no lineup mapping for most of them and several duplicates. Shy of going through all channels (knowing that they may well add more or change them) I need a listing!

Back to Comcast - Life Sucks Again - Montgomery County, MD

Man...I am back with Comcast. Had Comcast most my life (with many problems), I moved, got FIOS TV and Internet and was TOTALLY satisfied.

Well, moved again to downtown Silver Spring. I am in a brand new apt. building and for whatever reason Fios is not available.

Had DirectTV come by...I am a little too low elevation-wise to get DirectTV, so I had to go back to Comcast.

The bottom line is, I have felt my trip back has been low quality.

1) The tech brought two boxes to install, however, one box simply wouldn't power-up. The tech said he was embarrassed and it happens all the time, but Comcast apparently send out refurbished boxes all the time, and apparently there are quality control issues and bad boxes go out all the time.

2) I wanted an HD Box and got an HD Box. However, I got the deal with all the component cable. Why didn't I just get a box with a simple HDMI cable??? The tech says if you want a new box, with an HDMI cable, you have to go to Comcast on Gude drive and request one. (Why can't they just give you one up front???)

3) The one box that did work, kinda doesn't work. Sometimes out of the blue the power will cut off, and then it will restart in the middle of watching a program. This has happened everyday at least once since I got the box.

Anyway, I pray somehow Verizon makes it in this building. The crazy thing is there is a new building in Silver Spring being built that will have FIOS...I wanted to go there JUST BECAUSE OF FIOS, but they had a hard time firming up their first move in dates.

Anyway, need to waste precious personal time to drag this box to Comcast, when I should have gotten a brand new box in the first place....

Expanding DVR Space for Motorola DCH3416

I'm sure this has been covered to the point of sickness here, but I am at a loss to find a thread for it.

Is there any way to expand the amount of space on my Motorola dch3416?

I read about the Western Digital DVR Expander, but Motorola is not a supported device and I couldn't find anyone that said they got it to work.

Any information you can give me would be fantastic, even if it is a simple "No".

"This Channel Should Be Available Shortly" Message

Greetings out there. I am receiving a message stating "One Moment Please - This Channel Should Be Available Shortly" on my TV screens. This message is coming across both the HD-DVR box and the standard cable box. I recently had Comcast installed and the service worked great for about 4 days until I came home from work and this message popped up. The odd part is, my Comcast high speed internet works fine and both this service and the TV service are coming across the same cable into the house. All cables appear to be very tightly connected to both the boxes and the hookup outside. Does anyone have experience with these kind of issues? Thanks in advance!

CHannel round and round

1. Why should I NOT assume that channels are constantly reshuffled to stifle ANY attempts to use ANY other products than those supplied by Comcast? VCR+ codes or Gemstar for example and why is this better for consumers than letting third parties offer solutions. As compared to the days of ONLY IBM PC... Why should I believe Comcast is MERELY redirecting bandwidth, weekly, to more efficiently provide the services we want?

2. Why does Comcast ALLOW their customers to purchase $100 remotes and digital tuners, as standard new TV costs? Where is Comcast griping to protect their customer base? And why is their no Comcast TV set, which could easily be a simple monitor, cable ready with a remote that is rented ready to go?

3. Why does Comcast send me a bill once every 30 days, but only give me a window of approximately 3 days to mail, so that I may not technically be late with my payment, hence risking increased interest costs on other credit rating services?

4. Why would Comcast give me two FREE boxes, while a reasonable person would assume Comcast's operating expenses must incur those FREE costs and get passed on, but then show a line item cost for the FREE boxes, which may not CURRENTLY raise my bill, BUT at any of the 4, 5 or 6 times during the year, when Comcast increases line item cost, at their pleasure with no regulatory oversight, INCREASE THE COST FOR THE FREE BOXES? Whew!

5. Why does Comcast believe that I may take any grievance to my local government cable advisory committee, where a bunch of old men and woman who have NO idea of cable issues or high speed bandwidth issues, and actually get some sort of resolution. I have talked with OUR attorney, who negotiates OUR contract, but is also the SAME ATTORNEY who negotiates ALL the local contracts in my state, and says there is nothing we can really do. There he goes now, off to have discussions with his ONLY Company, somewhere where temperature and food is more conducive to the perils of contract negotiations...

I would like to hear any responses to these questions before I get to the meat and potatoes of dissatisfaction. Or is this the wrong community for this discussion? Sorry in advance if you don't think it is.
