Appeals continue for three Enron execs
01:47PM Saturday Sep 06 2008 by KathrynV
tags: legal · trouble
It’s been five years since the big Enron broadband scandal in which criminal charges were filed against a number of executives for misrepresentation of how advanced the network was and inflated sales of stock related to that misrepresentation. In 2005, several of the executives involved got acquittals or faced hung juries. Three of those executives are facing a second round of trials after a 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals denied their request to have the remaining charges against them thrown out. They had trial date sets for November and January which a judge has just postponed so that they can take their request to an appeal before the U.S. Supreme Court. If that request is denied, their new trials should take place in December and March.

Send Em to Jail

They wiped out pensions for thousands and thousands of people. Give them 20 years in the Federal Pen worrying about their weight-lifting cellmate who happens to be gay.

You're too kind. Personally, they should hang them high with a short rope.

Exactly, if you or I would have done that we would have been rotting in prison within a year! Money talks and can even let OJ get away with murder!

But I doubt that will help him get away with the armed robbery case he is in now, which was also caught on camera.

Re: Send Em to Jail

No but since he has so much money he can get one hell of a plea deal that you or I would not get?

Still?

This crap is still lingering? They should be behind bars and not in some country club jail.

The real architects are in jail

The real architects of the Enron Scandal are already in jail. The executives mentioned in the article were second level executives who were at best accessories to the crime and at worst simple puppets of the real criminals.

Lets be clear, the description implies that the key players in Enron haven't been convicted and they have. A greater separation needs to be made between Enron the corporate parent and Enron Broadband, the child company which was a minor fraction of the main company and had much less impact on the failure of the main company than you imply in the description. Enron Broadband was conceived in the last few months of the Enron saga and in fact played a very minor role in the stock price compared to the energy assets.

The trials should be over soon so Bush can give them a pardon. They have already paid for them!

Re: The real architects are in jail

That is just as obvious. They are all bought and paid for. This is a by partisan corruption. McCain and Oboma both already have there hands out.
